There’s an enjoyable reliance on old school effects in this supernatural horror. But the smoke and mirrors offer only slight chills and the most scary aspect of it is the alarming lack of narrative vigour. A small-town coroner and his son are tasked with establishing the cause of death of the mysterious ‘Jane Doe’, an unidentified female cadaver. Brian Cox, Emile Hirsch and Ophelia Lovibond do their best with the underwritten characters. Taking her apart to piece together a picture of the deceased’s life, it’s painfully obvious where it’s all heading.
