THE world of food and drink is full of conflicting advice.

Drinking coffee is good for you, or it will give you cancer. Eggs are part of nature’s natural bounty, or they raise your cholesterol. Wine is good for your heart, or it’s bad for it.

So many claims, so little agreement. Yet there is a fairly consistent body of research that points at the health benefits, or otherwise, of most popular foods.

BBC Focus magazine has sorted the facts from the fads and here TV experts Dr Saleyha Ahsan and The One Show’s Dr Michael Mosley give their verdicts on our favourites and help clear up the confusion.
