THE Duke of Edinburgh leaves hospital yesterday after two nights in care.

Prince Philip, 96, was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London when he fell ill after attending the first day of Royal Ascot. He was taken as a precautionary measure while he battled an infection.

Meanwhile, the Queen, 91, was enjoying Ladies’ Day at the race meet in Berkshire.

Everyone makes a big effort and has their own take on femininity AMANDA WAKELEY FASHION DESIGNER

WOMEN went the extra furlong as they dressed to impress at Royal Ascot, in a stunning variety of creations with matching hats.

A relaxation of the rules meant that jumpsuits were allowed in the Royal Enclosure, marking the first time since 1971 that the strict dress code for Ladies Day had been changed. But despite those outfits being given a run yesterday, it was jazzy hats that won the fashion stakes. Among some of the more daring designs was a picnic hamper-shaped hat, complete with champagne and strawberries, while others featured parakeets, owls and even a frog. ITV Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid, 46, had to hold on to her rose-inspired creation during one race. Royal Zara Tindall, 36, wore a similar design, while TV interior designer Celia Sawyer sported a jaunty feather creation. Fashion designer Amanda Wakeley, 54, who opted for a black and white outfit from her collection and a Jane Taylor hat, said: “I love Ladies Day. Everyone makes a bigger effort. “Everyone has their own take on femininity and I’m a big fan of staying true to yourself.”
