Judge sinks benefit cap

-

THE Tory benefit cap was beaten in a landmark High Court ruling yesterday.

A judge said it risks “real damage” as he ruled the cap must not apply to single parents with children under two.

Nearly 17,000 single parents could be excluded from the cap if a Government appeal fails. It limits benefits to £20,000 a year, or £23,000 in London.

Mr Justice Collins said: “Real misery is caused to no good purpose.”
