Looking back, I can’t for the life of me remember many of the Shakespeare quotes I used in my English exams, but I vividly recall the most brilliant lyrical roll-call for Trumpton fire station as voiced by the wonderful Brian Cant back in my magical 1960s childhood. Brian sadly passed away this week, aged 83, but his memory will always live on for those of us who watched Play School and Trumpton. I can hear him doing that roll-call now: ‘Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub’. Suddenly I feel six again. Thank you Brian.
