Term hol dad found guilty
A DAD has been convicted for taking his daughter on an unauthorised family holiday during term time.
Jon Platt, 46, fought a lengthy legal battle after refusing to pay a £60 fine.
Magistrates had told Isle of Wight Council he had no case to answer, but yesterday said he failed to secure the girl’s attendance.
Mr Platt got a 12-month conditional discharge. He was “relieved” it was over as “far too much has been spent”. The local authority spent £140,000 in legal fees.
