Head blasted for ‘body shaming’
A HEAD teacher was accused of body shaming by suggesting girls above size 8-10 should not wear short, tight skirts.
Anne Malcolm was telling pupils Lycra tube skirts were banned and said: “I am not a size 8-10, I wouldn’t wear one.”
A 13-year-old girl at Manor Community Academy in Hartlepool, Teesside, said: “The principal wasn’t thinking about how she might make girls feel. It wasn’t the right message.” Lauren SeagerSmith of charity Kidscape added: “You don’t enforce rules by body shaming.”
A spokesman for the school said the comment was aimed at reminding students of uniform rules.
