DE SOUSA’S FOUR-TIMER

-

PEACE AND CO, the 2015 Triumph Hurdle hero, outclassed his opposition as he made his debut over fences yesterday.

Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old was sent off the 1-5 favourite for the five-runner Bet toteplacepot Novices’ Chase at Hexham, and made all the running to win by eight lengths. SILVESTRE DE SOUSA, without a winner in 23 mounts at Royal Ascot last week, was cut to 1-8 to regain his jockeys’ title after booting home a near 58-1 four-timer at Pontefract yesterday.

The Brazilian, a bestpriced 1-4 favourite at the start of trading yesterday to win back the Stobartsponsored crown he won in 2015, scored on Footsteps Forever (3-1), Cape Coast (1-3), Akavit (3-1) and Pattie (7-4).
