Only way is up for Ant

-

MICHAIL ANTONIO says his years in non-league football still spur him on.

The West Ham winger started his career at Tooting & Mitcham before joining Reading in 2008 and rising up the divisions, moving to the Hammers in 2015.

Antonio, 27, has since made more than 50 league appearances for West Ham.

“I never think, ‘I’ve made it’, because in football you can be forgotten within two weeks and I don’t ever want to be forgotten,” he said.

“I want to always be better and make my career last as long as possible.

“It makes me proud to know where I’ve come from and how hard I‘ve worked.

“But I’m also scared of it, because I know what I’ve had to do and I don’t ever want to go back to that. It drives me on.”
