DETTORI OUT FOR ANOTHER TWO WEEKS

-

FRANKIE DETTORI, who missed Royal Ascot through injury, will now not be back before the week of Newmarket’s July Festival.

The Italian hurt his arm and shoulder in a paddock fall at Yarmouth on June 13 and jarred his arm again in the French Oaks five days later.

Dettori (above) has flown home to Sardinia for a week in a bid to speed up his recovery.

But he will miss the ride on Cracksman in Saturday’s Irish Derby at the Curragh and the Coral-Eclipse meeting at Sandown the following weekend.

“He won’t be back until the July meeting [13th15th] at Newmarket at the earliest,” said the jockey’s manager Peter Burrell. Dettori missed several winners at Royal Ascot, including Big Orange in the Gold Cup.

WILLIAM HILL will be the new sponsors of the St Leger at Doncaster.

The firm has signed a three-year-deal with Arena Racing Company, who manage Doncaster.

Hills will also sponsor the feature race on the three other days of the meeting in September.
