Broadband not up to speed across much of the country
LARGE parts of Britain are still stuck with mega-slow broadband speeds.
The Orkneys is the worst place at just 6.3 Megabits per second – below the Government’s minimum 10Mbps target, a study by Which? found.
Southwark, South London, West Devon, Suffolk, Powys and Hull are in the top 20 list of poor service, failing to get FURY Users get a poor service above 11Mbps, well below the national average of 17Mbps. Even Westminster in the heart of the capital could only manage 12.6Mbps. Users in Tamworth, Staffs, have the fastest at 30.4Mbps. Which? managing director of home services Alex Neill said: “Far too many households are suffering from slow broadband speeds.” The consumer watchdog will urge the Government to tackle the problem.
