Broadband not up to speed across much of the country

LARGE parts of Britain are still stuck with mega-slow broadband speeds.

The Orkneys is the worst place at just 6.3 Megabits per second – below the Government’s minimum 10Mbps target, a study by Which? found.

Southwark, South London, West Devon, Suffolk, Powys and Hull are in the top 20 list of poor service, failing to get FURY Users get a poor service above 11Mbps, well below the national average of 17Mbps. Even Westminste­r in the heart of the capital could only manage 12.6Mbps. Users in Tamworth, Staffs, have the fastest at 30.4Mbps. Which? managing director of home services Alex Neill said: “Far too many households are suffering from slow broadband speeds.” The consumer watchdog will urge the Government to tackle the problem.
