Pub locks out the drinkers for swearing

- BY LUCY THORNTON

A PUB boss turfed out drinkers and locked the doors after they began swearing, customers say.

He then apparently refused to open his doors again for three days.

The Arlington Hotel in Loftus, North Yorks, is owned by Samuel Smith’s Brewery, which has a swearing ban in its pubs.

A customer in his 40s reportedly said: “The door burst open and this man started shouting about the policy on swearing.

“Then he turned to the girl behind the bar and said ‘Shut this bar and get everybody out’.”

Another local publican said: “There’s no music, no TV – and probably nothing to do apart from swear.”

A woman at the Arlington Hotel said: “I’d rather not comment.”
