Serial killer’s solitary feat
A SERIAL killer has marked his birthday by setting a new UK record for solitary confinement.
Robert Maudsley turned 64 locked up alone in a Hannibal Lecter-type glass cell – as he has been for the past 39 years, or 14,235 consecutive days.
In 1978, double killer Maudsley made a knife from a spoon and murdered two inmates at Wakefield jail, West Yorks.
Maudsley has denied claims he tried to eat one of his victims’ brains.
