Loyal Lomax stays a Saint

JONNY LOMAX has turned down advances from his England coach Wayne Bennett and signed a new two-year deal with St Helens.

Lomax (above) started all three games at full-back in the Four Nations, and Bennett was impressed enough to target him for his Brisbane Broncos side.

His former Saints coach Nathan Brown was also understood to be keen to take him to Newcastle Knights.

But Lomax, 26, who battled back from a string of injuries, will stay at St Helens as they rebuild under new coach Justin Holbrook. His deal includes a contribution from a central funding pot designed to keep the best players in Super League.
