Poisoned fruit of May’s money tree

-

So the vicar’s daughter has signed a deal with the fire and brimstone creationists from Northern Ireland? That she would rather cuddle up to these toxic ultra right-wing zealots rather than seek to form a National Government similar to that of 1931 or during the Second World War to bring people together tells us much about Theresa May.

Could it be that getting into bed with the DUP is her revenge on the electorate for not giving her the open-ended mandate she craved?

If May’s gamble with the DUP goes as wrong as her gamble over the election did, Brexit could go horribly wrong. What did we do to deserve such an appalling Prime Minister? Keith Longmore, Ashwellthorpe Norfolk # How dare that woman pledge £1billion to the DUP in order to secure her position as Prime Minister, a position she is not fit to hold? A representative from Ireland said the money will be used for health and schools. What about our health service, which is on its knees, and the education of our children who are our future? The woman is not fit for purpose. Susan Dykes, Otley West Yorks How can the Tories agree to £1bn of public money for Northern Ireland when this is a political party-to-party deal? It is not a government or Parliament issue but a political stitch-up, and the buying and selling of votes which is surely illegal. Maureen Eades, North Leigh Oxfordshire # This DUP deal has made me so angry. How can this Tory government find £1bn for schools and hospitals in Northern Ireland when we can’t find money for our own, which we so badly need? So come on Mrs May, we would like some answers. Mel Ingleton, Coulsdon, Surrey # Political life cannot get any lower than it is in Britain today. Theresa May recently told a struggling nurse during a live television debate there was no magic money tree, yet she has given a £1bn bung to the extremist DUP just to remain in power.

What a cheek! They have succumbed to bribery, which is shameful.

To think this bung comes from hard-working taxpayers in all parts of the UK is an affront to democracy. Bill Cook Teignmouth, Devon # Considering a “Tory” paper showed on their front page recently that Corbyn’s policies were designed on a money tree, where is this money coming from? Guess what – the Tory money tree. It is interesting that Theresa May can find £1bn for this DUP deal but can find no money for the NHS, education, police and emergency services here. Yet again this shows what a deceitful, arrogant Prime Minister May is. She will go down as the worst, most hated and vilified PM ever. Mel Parry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales # So Theresa May has a magic money tree? I guess now she will treat the rest of the UK the same way she has the DUP – I think not. Surely there has got to be a way to get rid of this sorry excuse of a PM? Let’s have another general election and vote in someone who cares for Great Britain. Step forward Jeremy Corbyn.
