Cable closing on Farron job

SIR Vince Cable has emerged as favourite to be Lib Dem leader after close rival Sir Ed Davey quit the race for family reasons.

The former Business Secretary is now the only candidate standing to take over from Tim Farron.

One source claimed the contest will be “pretty much a coronation” as bookies shortened odds on Sir Vince victory to 1/50.

Dad-of-two Sir Ed said: “Being there for my children over the next few crucial years is my priority.”
