Parents defy holiday rules

-

ANGRY parents are vowing to carry on taking term-time holidays despite the risk of being fined.

More than half would be prepared for their children to miss five or more days.

And more than one in 10 said they would lie, reporting children as sick, to bag much cheaper holidays outside peak times.

Parents risk fines up to £2,500 and even jail if they do not get permission.

GoCompare Travel Insurance, behind the poll, said: “They are effectively being charged a travel tax.”
