Hope at last

WHAT a tribute to the perseverance of Liverpool families that criminal charges are to be brought against six people over the Hillsborough tragedy, with former Chief Supt David Duckenfield accused of manslaughter.

Without the love and anger of these working people, who refused to be bludgeoned into submission by officialdom, these proceedings would never have been brought on behalf of 96 football fans who did not return home from an FA Cup semi-final.

The Mirror, in our sustained support for the families, has repeatedly argued that they should have been saved this arduous fight.
