‘Lives at risk in political games’

-

A PAEDIATRIC nurse has accused the Tories of playing politics with people’s lives and claimed many of her friends have been forced to leave the profession.

Amina Ahmed, 34, who works in London, is furious the Government has refused to lift the 1% public sector pay cap.

She said: “I can’t believe they’ve said ‘no’ again. Theresa May came up with £1billion when she had to last week and I don’t understand why nurses can’t get the help they need to just live. It’s playing politics with the lives of both patients and nurses – both their lives are at risk.”

Amina, who lives in a one-bed flat with her husband and four ANGRY Amina children, said: “It’s heartbreaking. I might have to give up nursing now even though I didn’t ever want to. It’s putting so much strain on me as a nurse and obviously our patients and my family.”

Amina said all her friends have now left the profession. She works overtime to make ends meet and is listed with three agencies.

She added: “I would consider going on strike. It would be a very difficult thing for me to do but I think it would be the best thing for the patients. I do my best to highlight the issues but it’s sad because nobody cares.”
