REDMOND SO SORRY FOR MISS

-

NATHAN REDMOND has issued an emotional apology for his England penalty shoot-out horror.

The Under-21 striker admitted he was “gutted” at fluffing the fifth spot-kick that saw England knocked out by Germany in the Euro semi-final.

Redmond (right) put out a statement last night and simply said: “Sorry”.

After receiving support from his U-21 team-mates, Redmond insisted he could overcome the mental challenge caused by his miss and become a better player.

He said: “Gutted to have lost in the semi-final on pens. Sorry. I will continue to keep learning from these experiences and try to improve every day.

“There is work to do and I’m OK with the mental and physical challenges that lie ahead.

“I’m forever proud to wear the Three Lions shirt on my chest. I am sad to close a chapter on my England youth team football in that way but I’ve gained more than I’ve lost right through from U-16 to U-21.”
