Artist draws inspiration from divorce that left him with just his dog and bare walls
WHEN Rafael Mantesso’s wife left she took everything... even the pots and pans.
He was stuck in a stark white flat with only their bull terrier, JimmyChoo, named after her favourite shoe designer.
But artist Rafael found inspiration in the blank walls and began snapping Jimmy as he cavorted around.
Then he got a marker pen and drew a new world around his ginger-eared pal. The result? Hundreds of charming images including Jimmy playing jazz piano in shades, impersonating an angel and posing as the shark in Jaws. The pictures, which Rafael, 34, posted online from his home in Carangola, Brazil, soon took off and even inspired a book. And Jimmy Choo were so pleased they commissioned him to create a series of illustrations for a range of accessories which have just been launched.
