The fusion surgery
TEENS and young adults with scoliosis who have stopped spines growing can have straighten screws, hooks or wires and bones from other parts of the body, often the hip. The implants rods hold the spine in place until it can fuse itself over about 12 months. Some flexibility may be lost where the spine has fused. Most patients can return to school after a few weeks and pay sports or other activities after a few months.
