ROGER IS A ‘MESSI’

-

ROGER FEDERER and Rafa Nadal are the Messi and Ronaldo of tennis, according to Andrew Castle.

And the former British No.1 reckons Andy Murray is the Roy Keane – and Novak Djokovic is finished.

Defending champion Murray is the No.1 seed for the first time at SW19. But the Swiss and the Spaniard are the two favourites after claiming the first two Grand Slams of the year.

“These two have a rivalry that has sustained the game,” said the BBC commentator (above). “They were supposed to be over and they are back.

“Everybody would love to see a Federer v Nadal final. They are the Messi and Ronaldo of tennis.”

While the winners of a combined 33 Grand Slam titles are global superstars, Wilson ambassador Castle sees Murray as more of a midfield battler.

“I might talk Patrick Vieira with you – Andy is quite physical, prepared to turn everything for victory,” he said. “No actually there’s that Irishman, Roy Keane (below). Andy has got a bit of macho about him.

“He will turn any contest into a physical one. Footballers may clatter into each other from waist down – I’m not trying to compare the two but in terms of going deep Andy will go as deep as anybody.”

Castle has ruled out threetime champion Novak Djokovic winning back the title, saying: “He has disappeared in the head. You never know when he will re-emerge again.”
