Give an award to Manchester
Corrie stars’ tribute to city after terror attack
CORONATION Street turned into Nomination Street as its stars backed our Pride of Britain Awards.
Jennie McAlpine, Antony Cotton and Kym Marsh – aka Fiz, Sean and Michelle – were yesterday keen to pay tribute to Manchester after the May terror attack.
Breaking from filming to urge people to nominate everyday heroes, Jennie said: “Manchester has been through a pretty difficult time and I would nomi- nate a group of people for the Pride of Britain Award: the whole of the city.
“They deserve an award for coming together in what was the most horrendous of circumstances.”
She said locals who had taken people in or given survivors lifts home captured the spirit of the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB. Antony added: “The emergency service workers who dealt with the arena bomb, hands down, deserve gratitude and honouring.” While Kym spoke of her honour at hosting the Pride of the North East Awards earlier this year. She said: “I met so many brave, selfless people. And I think we could all learn a lot from them.” Our POB Mini Coopers are in Manchester again today, then Liverpool tomorrow. Nominate your hero at prideofbritain.com or your local TSB. Closing date is August 25.
We have a pair of tickets to the awards at Grosvenor House, London. Tweet a selfie with our Minis with the hashtag #prideofbritain, or share it on Facebook and tag Pride of Britain’s page. The winner, chosen at random, also gets travel to London and a hotel for the night.
