I’LL BE BACK ..AS THE BOSS!

Terry’s dreaming of Bridge return

- BY JAMES NURSEY

JOHN TERRY admitted it was agony to leave Chelsea – but revealed that he wants to return to Stamford Bridge as manager.

The Blues legend was unveiled by Aston Villa yesterday on a one-year contract, officially ending his 22-year spell in west London.

But the former England defender, 36, has already been talking to fellow ex-Chelsea star Frank Lampard (above) about potentially bossing them in the future.

Terry said: “I think that is the goal for all of us. Me and Lamps have had those conversations

and spoken. Do you

dream too big? I don’t think you can ever dream too big.

“I have always wanted to be the very best and if that is in management and Chelsea is the one, then in my world that would be incredible.”

Terry – who played 14 times for Blues boss Antonio Conte (below) last season – refused to join another Premier League club as he does not want to compete against Chelsea.

He is now aiming for promotion from the Championship with Villa, but said that nothing will ever top winning the Champions League and Premier League title with the Blues. Terry (being greeted by fans at Villa Park yesterday, above) added: “It took me a long time to get my head around playing for another club. There were a lot of emotions over the summer. Chelsea has been my club from a boy and I have grown up there.

“I’ve had some great times and won some great trophies there, like the Champions League and Premier Leagues for the first time in the club’s history, and FA Cups.”

Villa chief Bruce said: “John has certainly got to be the most decorated player in the Championship.

“We know what he brings. It’s not often you get a natural leader of men these days. But John has been that over many years and to get him here is a great coup for us.

“I think he can still go on beyond this year, but that’s going to be about John’s intent. He’s been fortunate in that he hasn’t had a great deal of injuries. Even when he beat me at golf he only had half a shandy...”
