Brave Billy’s a Whizz again at the wheel

- BY LOUISE SASSOON

A TEENAGE racer is back behind the wheel after losing both legs in a crash.

Billy Monger, 18, tweeted a photo before he drove at Brands Hatch, Kent.

He wrote: “First time back in a car, it’s been too long #billywhizz #imback.”

In April Billy was in a high-speed Formula Four smash at Donington, near Derby. The fateful race was shown live on ITV 4.

Yesterday, backed by Team BRIT, which helps injured drivers and servicemen compete, he raced with steering wheelmounted hand controls.

Formula One 1996 world champion Damon Hill tweeted: “Heroes of the Year. @BillyMonger @ TeamBRITracing.”

Billy, of Charlwood, Surrey, now hopes to race in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
