Lags’ life stories... coming to Soapland soon

Channel 4 has managed to get its cameras into all manner of locations, from maternity wards to nightclub toilets.

So I suppose it was only a matter of time before a documentary crew persuaded a prison to let them in.

only got as far as the visiting room of HMP Low Moss near Glasgow. It still woman. She visits her fiance, killer Gary, every day to discuss plans for their upcoming wedding. Only problem is, he doesn’t know when – or even if – he will be getting out.

Then there was the tale of two brothers. The elder was doing time for alcohol-related public order offences. His younger sibling was the sensible one, trying to get him back on the right path. The soapiest tale, though, involved church minister’s son Mike, who is serving time for the attempted murder of his wife.

His dad, John, is struggling to come to terms with his son’s crime – and Mike’s double life, as he had another partner and kids in Scotland.

It’s no surprise Mike won a prison contest... for creative writing.
