Brave Boult feeling blue
BRIT Katie Boulter’s Wimbledon debut ended in tears. “Devastated” Boulter broke down after just coming up short in her bid to stun world No.59 Christina McHale. The 20-year-old wildcard and world No.238 ticked off one of her career goals by making SW19’s first round. And she gave McHale a real run for her money, taking the first set 6-3 and fighting back from 4-1 and 5-2 in the second before the American eventually triumphed 7-5. McHale’s class then told in the decider, which she won 6-3 to leave Boulter heartbroken but hungry for more. She said: “I’m devastated at this moment. I really felt like I could win. “I’m upset today, but I’m striving to be here. I’m going to keep working as hard as I possibly can to get here.”
