Primary kids failing ‘3 Rs’
TWO out of five primary school pupils in England failed to meet the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, official government figures show.
Results from SATs, taken by half a million 11-yearolds in May, reveal just 61% reached the expected level in the “three Rs”, up on last year’s 53%.
Russell Hobby, of the National Association of Head Teachers, said comparisons are not safe as schools “should never be judged by data alone”.
