Warning over fake online ad seeking extras for Corrie
CORONATION Street has warned budding actors about a fake advert offering work as an extra on the soap.
The ad, which has appeared online, claims the ITV show needs 200 people to start next month. Its says no acting skills are required, but promises paid work and free accommodation.
Applicants are asked to supply their personal details. Corrie, which has made stars of actors such as Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie Webster, last night warned hopefuls not to respond. A spokeswoman said: “We only book our extras from reputable casting agents, so they are the people to contact for work. These ads are fake and people should not be taken in by them.” But dozens of would-be actors had already applied to the advert.
