DECISION AN OUTRAGE
I was appalled to read how pensioner Betty Whyley’s Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was cut because she couldn’t name the doctor who diagnosed her with polio 67 years ago (Mirror, June 14). This is an outrageous decision.
The British Polio Fellowship’s support services team helps members to challenge and overturn such arbitrary assessments. With more than 120,000 polio survivors in the UK now struggling with a debilitating new medical condition – Post Polio Syndrome (PPS) – we need to reach more of these people to ensure they are receiving the right benefits and support.
