ALJAZ: TOO DAM LOUD, COACH

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

ALJAZ BEDENE gave his own coach a ticking off as friendships went out the window at Wimbledon.

Slovenia-born Bedene lent good friend Damir Dzumhur some shirts and shorts for his first-round match.

But the Brit No.4’s generosity ended there as he sent his mate packing from Wimbledon 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3 to reach the third round of a slam for only the second time.

And then Bedene had a pop at his own team after they upset the Bosnian by applauding one of his errors.

Bedene said: “I wouldn’t say he (Dzumhur) was wrong or right. He was just a little bit nervous. It was an important point, first point of the eighth game, new balls.

“Maybe my coach just went a little bit too far with that ‘Come on!’ too loud.

“But I can’t say because I don’t really know how loud that was.

“I think it’s all forgotten. I mean, they are good friends, as well, so it should be fine.”

Bedene also shrugged off the flying ant infestation that plagued Wimbledon – and court three, in particular – to swat aside Dzumhur.

Bedene found himself pegged back, after taking the first set, before he recovered to set up a third-round clash with 16th seed Gilles Muller.
