The actors in the fifth and final series of BBC2’s Ripper Street deserve great praise for maintaining some sort of sanity in a series that has lost the plot. When it began, we knew the aftermath of the Whitechapel Murders was central to the storyline, but since then it has been more akin to Gunfight At The OK Corral, Bleak House and now the The Fugitive. Joseph Mawle, pictured, is brilliant as the sinister head of police, but not even he can take away the feeling the show has run out of ideas. Gordon Trievnor, Uxbridge, Mddx
