Pokemon Go (one year on)
Pokemon Go was the mobile gaming sensation of 2016, with daily users reportedly topping 45 million in July.
One year on, that number has fallen dramatically, but there is still a loyal fanbase that logs on to the app regularly to catch Pokemon, hatch eggs and engage in gym battles. Over the last 12 months, Niantic has been continuously developing the game and adding new features, including extra Pokemon characters, an improved tracking feature and regular themed ‘events’.
It has also overhauled the gym battle system to make ownership more collaborative, and introduced a new feature called ‘raid battles’ that lets you work with other trainers to defeat a powerful Pokemon known as a raid boss. If you played the game when it first came out but have since lost interest, now could be a good time to revisit it.
