JOB TO DO Theresa May ARROGANT Theresa May shrugged off her failed election gamble, boasting: “Well, I’m still Prime Minister.”

But as she returned to the world stage amid fresh speculation over her leadership, one minister branded her a “lame horse” and another said her Cabinet was ambitious and “selfish”.

Asked at the Hamburg summit if she had her “mojo back”, she said: “I’m getting on with the job, delivering a stable government.”

She insisted that calling the election was right and that EU chiefs involved in Brexit talks were confident she would still be in post in a year’s time.

But reports emerged of junior ministers considering quitting to force a leadership contest before the October Tory conference. Mid-rank ministers said: “Selfish Cabinet ministers are putting ambition before country.”

Labour’s Jon Trickett said Mrs May’s political authority was “shot”. But Chancellor Philip Hammond insisted: “We should stop navel-gazing and get on with the job in hand.”

At the summit, Mrs May rapped Chinese Premier Xi Jinping over dumping cheap steel but he hit back saying all countries needed to act on over-production.
