Labour focus on key towns to nab power

-

TOWNS are the key to a Labour poll victory, Yvette Cooper will say today.

The ex-Cabinet Minister says they form 42 of the 64 seats needed to win power.

After general election gains in cities including Canterbury, Brighton and Sheffield, the party now needs to make headway in key towns, she says.

The MP lists Pudsey, Hastings, Thurrock, Broxtowe, Telford, Aberconwy, Milton Keynes and Pendle.

Ms Cooper will tell the Fabian Society: “Many towns have been let down by the Tories, hit harder by public service cuts and by the changing economy.

“We need an alternative Labour vision.”
