1961: Angela Mortimer beat Christine Truman in the first all-British women’s singles final at Wimbledon since 1914.

1978: Bjorn Borg beat Jimmy Connors 6-2 6-2 6-3 in the men’s singles final at Wimbledon to successfully defend his title.

2007: Lewis Hamilton finished third in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone for his ninth successive podium finish of the season.

2008: Chelsea rejected an approach from Inter Milan for England midfielder Frank Lampard.
