Strikes to hit 3rd rail firm

STRIKES by rail work­ers over staffing and driveronly trains will spread to a third op­er­a­tor to­day.

The Rail, Mar­itime and Trans­port union be­gan a three-day walk­out on Ar­riva Rail North on Satur­day. RMT mem­bers on Merseyrail will take ac­tion again to­day.

South­ern Rail­way will also be hit by the strike.

RMT gen­eral sec­re­tary Mick Cash pointed to “the con­tin­ued hand of Trans­port Sec­re­tary Chris Grayling block­ing a set­tle­ment”.
