Breadwinner dad worst hit
FAMILIES where the dad is the main breadwinner have suffered the most from Britain’s pay freeze, a report reveals today.
The wages of working fathers have grown by only 0.3% a year on average in the past 20 years, says the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
Jonathan Cribb, of the IFS, said: “It has become increasingly hard for families dependent on the father’s earnings to keep up with other families.” Dad is the breadwinner in 85% of one-earner families.
