Transgender welcome win
THE Church of England has voted overwhelming in favour of welcoming transgenders.
The General Synod backed a motion stating there was a need for transgender people to be “welcomed and affirmed in their parish church” as part of the “process” of transition.
Rev Chris Newlands, the Vicar of Lancaster, who moved the motion, said: “I hope we can make a powerful statement to say we believe that trans people are cherished and loved by God, who created them.”
■ The number of children aged between three and seven being referred to gender identity clinics has quadrupled to 84 in five years, NHS figures reveal.
