Nev says name is stumbling block to his building empire
FORMER footie star Gary Neville is keeping his name secret in his property development schemes, as he says it prevents planning battles.
The ex-England and Man United player believes it causes problems when his identity is revealed.
He said: “It’s interesting, when I buy under a different company name or request planning permission under a different name, the planning permissions don’t tend to attract the same sort of attention.” Neville, 42, is in a battle with locals in Manchester over plans with Ryan Giggs to build a skyscraper in the city centre. He has secretly bought four other buildings in Manchester, he told British Airways’ in-flight magazine Business Life. He admitted: “We reap the rewards of publicity when it suits us, so we can’t complain when [it] goes against us.”
