Johnny at home with mum Elaine

Theatre star Elaine Paige will play Johnny Vegas’s mum in new BBC1 sitcom Home From Home. The series, set in the Lake District, first aired as a pilot on BBC2 last year.

“I have been cavorting about in the Lake District,” Elaine, above, says. “It has been fantastic fun and a dream job.”

The six-part comedy – also starring Emilia Fox, Joanna Page and Adam James – hits screens later this year.

For those who did not catch the pilot, Vegas plays Neil Hackett, who moves with wife Fiona into their yearned for mobile home in the Lake District – only to have their dream ruined by smug neighbours. Elaine tells us: “I am not going to tell you if Johnny is unruly.”
