YOU SAY
I feel so sorry for the young singles who write to you. We never had the same problem in my youth when it came to finding a partner.
Bring back the old-fashioned dance halls with the big bands. All the young singles would go there and we’d stand or sit around until someone caught your eye and asked you to dance. We would hold each other and dance and talk, and make a decision on whether to continue the relationship or say thank you for the dance and look for someone else.
There was no awkwardness and we had fun whether we came away alone or not. There was always next week’s dance to look forward to. Doreen Mundy, Esher, Surrey
