ROGER TAYLOR’S presence in the Royal Box proved to be a lucky omen for Britain’s leading double act this year.

Forty four years ago in 1973 was the last time Britain had both a man and woman in the last eight – Taylor and Virginia Wade (left).

That was before yesterday when Johanna Konta and Andy Murray from the class of 2017 ended the long wait.
