Grenfell tragedy survivors wait for permanent homes

- BY BEN ROSSINGTON

GRENFELL Tower survivors are still being left hungry with no sign of being permanently rehoused one month after the blaze, campaigners claim.

Many are still in hotels but fearful what will happen when they have to leave at the end of the month.

Four families have had no contact with the authorities for nearly a month. And a dad of one was calling in at community centres looking for food vouchers to feed his family. Evacuated Joe Delaney, 37, said: “The mood in the community is one of resignation.”

At least 80 are known to have died and London’s top firefighter said only a “miracle” could have prevented the tragedy. The Grenfell Response Team, answering questions for Kensington and Chelsea council, were unavailable for comment.
