£3,400 dining table didn’t turn up

-

Mum Danielle Williams, 32, of Swindon, saved up for two years to buy her dream dining room set, but after paying out it never arrived.

I had my heart set on this dining room set and decided I’d save up the £3,400 I needed to buy it. It took me two years and I was excited to finally be able to order it.

But that soon turned to despair because my furniture never arrived.

I did everything I could to ensure the website I used was reputable. They had a UK address and contact details and I spoke to them on the phone to order my table and chairs.

Everything seemed to be legitimate, but after eight weeks nothing had arrived. I then spent a frantic few weeks trying to make contact by phone, email and via social media. I must have sent 100

emails. I got nothing back and began to panic as they seemed to disappear. Luckily, I had paid on my credit card. I always do when I make any big purchases online.

I contacted my card firm, filled out a form and gave them copies of all the correspondence about the purchase – and I got my money back.

It’s so easy to be taken in by rogue firms. I’m pretty savvy and am really careful – but I still got done.
