Mourinho goes for £45m deal

MANCHESTER UNITED are trying to push through a £45million move for Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic by next week.

Jose Mourinho wants to make the 28-year-old his third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter want £50m for Perisic (right), but United are only willing to go to £45m, with the Reds hoping their take-itor-leave-it final offer will see the deal go ahead.

Perisic, who can play as a winger, attacking midfielder or second striker, has joined up with Inter on their pre-season training camp in northern Italy and wants his club to sanction his move to United as quickly as possible.

United executive vicechairman Ed Woodward has remained in the UK to try to close the deal for Persic, along with the £50m capture of Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has made clear that he wants to keep the Croatia star.

But the Italian club need the money from his sale, and United remain confident a deal can be struck.

Perisic is due to fly to China with Inter on July 18 to take part in the International Champions Cup.

But United are aiming to make him their player by then.
