James Bond fight star Joe dies aged 90
ACTOR, stuntman and wrestler Joe Robinson, who played a jewel smuggler in Diamonds Are Forever, has died aged 90.
His character in the 1971 film had a memorable fight in a lift with James Bond, played by Sean Connery.
Man mountain Joe, who was born in Newcastle, also appeared as a wrestler in 1955 movie A Kid for Two Farthings.
His family said he died in Brighton, East Sussex, after a short illness.
In a newspaper’s condolences column, his loved ones described him as: “World champion wrestler, master of martial arts, iconic actor and teacher. Beloved father, brother, uncle and grandfather.”
Black belt Joe ran a martial arts centre after his years on movie sets.
