Scam exploits Grenfell tragedy

Rogue traders are using the Grenfell Tower disaster to con homeowners into paying out for replacement loft insulation.

One cold caller with fake local council ID warned a resident that, if he refused, he could be charged with manslaughter in the event of a fire.

“This appears to be a particularly callous attempt to scare residents into getting unnecessary work done,” said Councillor Ian Dalgarno, Executive Member for Community Services in Central Bedfordshire.

“Please remember – do not let any unexpected callers into your home, and look out for your elderly or vulnerable neighbours.”
