POCH: IT’S NO WAY, JOSE, OVER DIER

- BY DARREN LEWIS

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has told Daniel Levy to defy Jose Mourinho in the £50million battle for Eric Dier.

Manchester United have targeted Dier to become their latest recruit.

But Spurs rejected a bid from the Reds shortly after the season ended, with boss Pochettino making it clear to Levy that Dier, 23, is one of the players he is determined to keep. Spurs insist they will no longer be vulnerable to raids from Old Trafford or other clubs. They lost Michael Carrick, Luka Modric, Dimitar Berbatov and Gareth Bale when the side was outside the top four.

Dier (right) is now set to push for a second new White Hart Lane deal in less than a year after he was rewarded with an improved, fiveyear contract last September, taking his wages to £70,000 a week. But Tottenham are well aware that he could earn more than double that amount with a move to United.

The players for whom Spurs are prepared to listen to offers this summer remain full-back Kyle Walker, midfielder Moussa Sissoko and winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.

Vincent Janssen could also leave if an acceptable offer is submitted.
